Like any good craftsman who prides himself on being recognised as such, I try to follow a coherent process, which I believe is based on three basic concepts.
which is inspired by everything that is around me. It is based on the use of materials that nature provides us with, such as stone or wood. Then, adding a few touches of glass or metal, which are also natural elements, but have been previously transformed.
Sometimes I draw and sometimes I go directly to the model. Sometimes I look for the materials to work with and sometimes they find me.
the model or original which I alter and work on until it has the proportions that I consider appropriate and the materials that adapt to the product that I want to present.
Other times I use raw material that is already given to me by nature itself and I try to transform it for its intended purpose.
Jewellery, rowing, jewellery again, sculpture and now designing and creating plates, form the core of my professional path. Each has brought a different aspect to my creative development.
The first has given me the sensibility of a piece of jewellery, rowing has given me the perseverance to pursue a goal and work towards it, a crucial trait in any competitive athlete. And sculpture, in particular the teacher I had and still have, has given me the definitive push to mix the best of each one. As I imagine a chef does in the development of a specific dish or menu, finding balance and creativity between the space, the support and the food. And all of this with a team of people who love what they do.
Thanks to all of those who have helped me along the way.
I end with my favourite word that sums up what I aspire to in all aspects of my life.
